Mohamed Riad Bin Mohamed Padli
Meet Mohamed Riad, an experienced PE educator who believes teaching thrives through teamwork and mutual support among teachers.

Riad served as a Lead Teacher (Physical Education) at Bukit Panjang Primary School, where he played a key role in developing both curriculum and staff capacity within the PE department. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he took on leadership duties while covering the role of Discipline Master, gaining valuable insights into student development and behaviour management. His experience reflects a strong balance of instructional leadership and whole-school contribution.
At Bukit Panjang Primary School, Riad led initiatives to strengthen teaching and learning in PE through greater clarity, student engagement, and pedagogical consistency. He guided the department in using whiteboards as a tool for inquiry-based learning, making students’ thinking visible as they asked questions, reflected on performance, and co-constructed understanding. He also introduced the use of “Levels of Learning” (LOL), adapted from the SOLO taxonomy, to help teachers design progressive learning experiences. This approach supported the development of 21st Century Competencies (21CC) across both PE and CCA, particularly in areas such as self-management, collaboration, and critical thinking, while promoting greater student ownership of learning.
Riad believes in developing self-regulated learners by making learning intentions and progressions explicit and accessible to students. His approach centres on inquiry-based and student-centred learning, where learners actively construct understanding through reflection and dialogue. Guided by the belief that “Those who can, I work with them; Those who can’t, I walk with them,” he is committed to meeting students at their point of need—challenging those who are ready to extend their learning, while providing support and guidance for those who require it. By integrating frameworks such as Levels of Learning (LOL) into his practice, he emphasizes clarity, progression, and purposeful learning, enabling all students to grow with confidence and ownership.
