Story Behind Our POWeR Logo
Story Behind the Design of the Logo
The logo represents the PESTA Open Web Resources (POWeR), a dedicated website for Physical Education (PE) teachers. This platform offers a rich repository of resources to encourage teachers to become self-directed learners in their professional learning. The logo is designed to encapsulate POWeR’s mission and values through its vibrant colours, dynamic arrows, and the energetic figure of a running man.
Colours
The gradient of colours in the logo, ranging from shades of red and orange to yellow, holds significant meaning:
Red: Symbolises energy, passion, and action, reflecting the dynamic and active nature of physical education.
Orange: Represents enthusiasm, creativity, and determination, qualities essential for PE teachers as they inspire and engage their students.
Yellow: Denotes optimism, clarity, and warmth, embodying the positive impact of continuous learning and professional growth.
Arrows
The arrows in the logo signify direction, progress, and forward movement. They symbolise the continuous journey of learning and improvement that POWeR encourages among PE teachers. The arrows also convey a sense of momentum and dynamism, essential attributes for educators dedicated to enhancing their skills and knowledge.
Running Man
The figure of the running man is PESTA's official logo and adds a powerful visual element that exemplifies the spirit of an Academy that is progressive, vibrant and passionate; expressing the aspirations and dreams of the fraternity.
Movement and Speed: The running man embodies the physical activity central to PE, emphasising the importance of staying active and healthy.
Determination and Perseverance: The posture of the running man reflects determination and perseverance, key traits for both educators and their students in pursuing excellence through self-directed professional learning, in line with Academy of Singapore Teachers’ (AST) philosophy of Teacher-Owned, Teacher-Led (TOTL).
